Is Yoga for me?
Yoga really does help in improving your health for stretching can tone your muscles and exercise your spine and your entire skeletal system.
Every office worker knows that mid-afternoon slump feeling. Yoga not only provides a workout but also brings oxygen into the body giving that so much-needed energy back. It basically bring new life into the body!
Not only does office yoga give a boost of energy, but it can even prevent a burnout and exhaustion effect.
Yoga means 'union' and it's a scientific system of physical and mental training. It's a series of beneficial postures and breathing exercises designed to enhance mental clarity, mindfulness and physical health. The poses increase flexibility in the body, develop a sense of calm in the mind thus reaching a peaceful and relaxing effect in the nervous system.
The movements are done slowly to build awareness in the body, in its tensions and patterns of behaviour. During a Yoga class, the focus is on the inner awareness finding physical and emotional balance.
Google, Apple, IKEA. Transport for London, General Motors, Proctor and Gamble, HSBC, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Bank of England are among those that have made mindfulness available to staff bringing yoga or other holistic practices into the workplace.
The class is suitable for all levels and absolute beginners are welcome. I will guide through the yoga poses safely, suggesting alternatives if necessary. Yoga targets the most common areas of tension. It helps releasing tight shoulders, mobilising stiff lower backs and calming stressed minds.
A Yoga class can be either 45 or 60 minutes long. It can be part of an employee health day or as part of a regular weekly session on-site at your office.
I suggest a maximum of 10 participants per yoga class depending on the space available. It can be held at lunch time, throughout the day or after work hours.
I will need a suitable area for the class where participants have enough room to lie down and stretch out. I can supply some yoga mats or clients can use towels instead.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing which don't restrict their movement.
Life is a balance of holding and letting go.
Yoga is a dance between control and surrender - between pushing and letting go - and when to push and when to let go becomes part of the creative process, part of the open-ended explorations of your being.
